Introduction: Extrapulmonary Tuberculosis (EPTB) accounts for about15 to 20% of all cases of Tuberculosis in India.1e percentage may be higher in children and in HIV infected individuals.2 Diagnosing EPTB is challenging as it requires a clinician to obtain adequate specimen involving the concerned organ for investigations to confirm diagnosis. Also paucibacillary nature of the disease poses difficulty in diagnosis. Cartridge based Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (CBNAAT) also known as GeneXpert is a major advance in diagnosis of Tuberculosis (TB) in past decades. It allows detection of Mycobacteria Tuberculosis bacilli as well as Rifampicin resistance (R Resistance) thus making it an important and attractive tool in diagnosis of EPTB.1 e aim of this study was to diagnose EPTB using CBNAATand to detect R Resistance in EPTB using CBNAAT.
